The main objectives of this research are to examine how Holocaust survivors recount experiences of sexual violence in video testimonies and investigate the scope of sexual violence in the localized context by analyzing different perpetrator groups and the power relations that enabled sexual violence in the ghettos and in hiding. This has led to characterisations of Ireland as an outlier amidst secularisation patterns worldwide, whilst the 2009 scandals following the publication of the Ryan, Murphy and Cloyne Reports into clerical sexual abuse have led to claims of the collapse of Irish Catholicism and the church.
