Sammanfattning: This report is about a product development project as part of the course Thesis for Bachelor’s degree in innovation- and design engineering worth 22.5 credits. The thesis is being carried out at Karlstad University for voestalpine Precision Strip AB in Munkfors. The supervisor for this project is Monica Jakobsson and the examiner for the course is Leo de Vin. voestalpine Precision Strip AB in Munkfors specialises in ultra-thin cold-rolled steel used in various types of products in industries such as paper and printing, valves, and more. The company has given the task of designing a presentation box to be given to stakeholders valued highly by the company. This includes new and old business partners, as well as employees who have shown great value or are retiring. The box should hold a gift the size of a wine bottle or smaller and should be able to be carried by hand for personal delivery. The purpose of the thesis is to design a presentation box that not only meets the basic requirements, such as holding a gift, but also communicates the company's values of quality, sustainability, innovation, and elegance. This is done by investigating what these values mean and how they can be conveyed through form and material choice. The project is divided according to a modified version of Design Council (2019) evolved double diamond approach. It starts with a planning phase where a timeline and a definition of the remaining project phases are established and then moves on to the Discover phase, which can be equated to a feasibility study where relevant information is collected. The project then transitions to the Define phase, where the functionality and requirements for the product are established. Next, the Develop phase begins where the product is developed through idea generation and concept selection. Finally, renderings of CAD models and a prototype are shown in an exhibition, presentation, and thesis. The result of the project is a concept that meets the functional requirements set for the product. The concept consists of a presentation box designed with a pentagonal profile extended to slightly more than the length of a standardised wine bottle. The box also has two lids that fold out from the top to present the contents. The lids can then be folded out in one more step to display a business card and a timeline describing voestalpine Precision Strip AB's long history. The presentation box is made of walnut, accented by details in steel from the company and other details in blue according to the company's colours, specifically on the inside of the logo and in the second step of the folding lid.
