Är hållbara företag även ekonomiskt hållbara? : En studie av medelstora och stora Svenska börsnoterade företag 2008-2012

Sammanfattning: This study analyses medium and large sized companies on the Swedish stock market OMX to see if the sustainable companies perform better when it comes to being economically sustainable. It also analyses if there are any differences between the medium and large sized sustainable companies on this point. The period for this study is 2008 – 2012 and includes 93 Swedish companies noted on the Mid and Large Cap OMX STO. The companies were divided into three different groups depended on their level of sustainability. The variables tested for each company and group were ROA, ROE, Growth, Tobin-Q and Leverage, all of which connected to the definition of economically sustainable, formed in the report. The three groups were tested for differences in between them. The result shows that the medium sized sustainable companies are more economically sustainable compared to non-sustainable companies. However, the large sized sustainable companies are not more economically sustainable compared to the non-sustainable ones. It also shows that there are no differences between the sustainable medium and large companies when it comes to being economically sustainable.
