Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to survey the Swedish peoples trust to welfare from the perspective of the changes that have occurred since 1986. Have these changes affected Swedish peoples view of the welfare state and of the state itself? The focus of this study is whether and how views of the welfare state have changed during the 1986-2004 period. The Study conducts an analysis based on surveys made by the SOM- Institute at Gothenburg University and statistics from the Swedish Financial Management Authority (ESV) on the Swedish government spending’s related to welfare. The statistics have been compiled to see if the government spending has increased or declined between1986-2004. This study surveys the trust to the school, healthcare and the Swedish parliament. Data have been compiled in order to see which of the following variables age, sex, class and political view have been affected the most. The study is a continuation of Edlund, Johansson Savä (2013) survey of the Swedish trust to welfare. Their conclusion is that the amount of trust the people have in welfare state is based on age. Their conclusion is based on the theory institutional socialization. Their study states that the younger population are more prone to adjust too changes in the society’s institutional construction. This because they have no other experience of previous constructions. This study will survey their conclusion. The result of this study shows clearly that the Swedish welfare has gone through a change in the welfare institutional organization. This change started in the 1990 in the aftermath of the financial crises. Hence the study will show that it is not age, sex, class or political view that effect the trust to welfare. It is the changes themselves that have an impact on the trust in the welfare state. Keywords: Welfare, Trust, Age, Changes in welfare, Institutional Socialization Antal ord: 10308
