Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to increase understanding of the relationship between norms and employee learning in the workplace. The study is aimed at employees' work experiences from different perspectives, such as collaboration, communication, organization of work, and room for action, and thereby highlights the dynamics between norms and employee learning in the workplace. The focus of this study is on how norms affect employee learning, and how norms develop or change in relation to employee learning. The empirical work was built from semi- structured interviews with seven participants from a home care company in the healthcare industry. Two of the participants were part of the management team, while the remaining participants were care assistants. The study's theoretical starting point was social and situated learning theory where central concepts such as norms and communities of practice were used when interpreting the results. The results and analysis of the study were linked to relevant previous studies and are presented in the discussion section. The study's results and conclusion highlight the various dynamic processes that contribute to an increased understanding of how employee learning and workplace norms interact. In a multicultural community of practice, a process is underway where employees can discover which norms govern their working approaches, and then through discussion and exchange of experiences with colleagues creates the potential for new shared norms and working approaches. Formal norms are a type of norms that govern the way employees work. Difficulty in implementing formal norms in practice contributes to the creation of informal norms by employees which increase their flexibility in work situations and facilitate their work. Managers and contact persons with formal power and trust support the formal norms to continue to exist. By being in the workplace, employees learn about the influence of power in maintaining, reinforcing, and changing existing norms. Furthermore, employees' identities may change gradually as they learn and adapt to the norms of the workplace. Knowing the different norms also gives beginners access to the new community of practice and the informal network. In conclusion, proposals for further research are presented.
