  1. 1. GIS and remote sensing based mapping of microtopography and vegetation composition in a boreal mire complex

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Nils Helge Havertz; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Microtopography modelling; Remote sensing; Boreal mixed mires; Object Based Image Analysis OBIA ; random forest RF ;

    Sammanfattning : Small scale variations in mire surface elevation referred to as microtopography are fundamental characteristics of mire ecosystems especially in the boreal region. Microtopography commonly classified into hummocks and hollows play a major role in several ecological, hydrological and biogeochemical processes including vegetation composition and carbon and methane dynamics. 2. 2. Forest stand delineation through remote sensing and Object-Based Image Analysis

    Magister-uppsats, Högskolan i Gävle/Samhällsbyggnad, GIS

    Författare :José Antonio Ortega-García; [2018]
    Nyckelord :forest stand; stand delineation; LiDAR; ASTER; OBIA; GIS; remote sensing; segmentation; canopy heigh model; forestry; Navarra; OBIA; LiDAR; ASTER; segmentación; rodal; forestal; SIG; teledetección;

    Sammanfattning : Forest stand delineation is an essential task of forest management planning which can be time consuming and exposed to subjectivity. The increasing availability of LiDAR data and multispectral imagery offers an opportunity to improve stand delineation by means of remotely-sensed data. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Investigating the potential of object-based image analysis to identify tree avenues in high resolution aerial imagery and lidar data : a literature review

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Greta Moreen Wistrand; [2016]
    Nyckelord :eCognition; remote sensing; geographic object-based image analysis; GE OBIA; lidar; tree avenues; landscape elements; monitoring; physical geography and ecosystem science; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of geographic object-based image analysis (GEOBIA) for the identification and monitoring of tree avenues with the help of aerial imagery and lidar data. For this, a literature review into three topics was conducted: First, scientific literature in form of journal articles, text books, and reports were used to highlight key features of GEOBIA. 4. 4. Evaluation of pixel based and object based classification methods for land cover mapping with high spatial resolution satellite imagery, in the Amazonas, Brazil

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Linnea Jonsson; [2015]
    Nyckelord :support vector machine; maximum likelihood; SPOT-5; classification; geography; physical geography; RBF-kernel; OBIA; multiresolution segmentation; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : In the state of Acre, Brazil, there is ongoing land use change, where inhabitants of this part of the Amazonian rainforest practice shifting agriculture. Practicing this type of agriculture is, according to the SKY Rainforest Rescue organization, damaging to forest ecosystems. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Urban classification by pixel and object-based approaches for very high resolution imagery

    Magister-uppsats, Högskolan i Gävle/Samhällsbyggnad, GIS

    Författare :Fadi Ali; [2015]
    Nyckelord :Ancillary data; land use land cover classification; supervised algorithms; GIS; Remote sensing; OBIA;

    Sammanfattning : Recently, there is a tremendous amount of high resolution imagery that wasn’t available years ago, mainly because of the advancement of the technology in capturing such images. Most of the very high resolution (VHR) imagery comes in three bands only the red, green and blue (RGB), whereas, the importance of using such imagery in remote sensing studies has been only considered lately, despite that, there are no enough studies examining the usefulness of these imagery in urban applications.
