  1. 1. Riparian plant biodiversity and community composition of ditches and straightened streams : identifying key environmental drivers in a boreal forest setting

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Rasmus Staaf; [2024]
    Nyckelord :artificial waterways; riparian zone; novel ecosystems; ; forestry; ditch network maintenance; species richness; hill-diversity; drainage ditches; coarse woody debris; ditch cleaning; ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Modified ecosystems are typically seen as degraded and having no ecological value. In many cases, the modification of the ecosystem was done more than 100 years ago and may have had time to recover and become a refugia for species that were once more common in the landscape. 2. 2. Dark Ecology: Obscurities Illuminated

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Nadja Gollbo; [2024]
    Nyckelord :dark ecology; object-oriented ontology; internal critique; political theory; speculative realism; ecological philosophy; environmental issues;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates “dark ecology” – an ecological theory formulated by Timothy Morton, based on an object-oriented ontology and claimed to offer a new perspective on how humans can and should coexist with other “objects” in the world in a better, less hostile way. Dark ecology is a critique of both an anthropocentric and a biocentric worldview, aiming to erase the dichotomy between human/nature and subject/object. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metaller i Vombsjön - Mygglarver som bioindikator för miljöövervakning

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC)

    Författare :Siri Bengtsson; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Bioindicators; Chironomidae; Freshwater source; Lake Vomb; Metal concentrations; Pollution; Sediment sampling; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates concentrations of eight metals (Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr, Ni, As) in the freshwater resource Lake Vomb, located in the south of Sweden (Scania), and explores the potential use of deformed Chironomidae larvae as bioindicator. Sediment samples from six locations were analysed against threshold values from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and background values from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. 4. 4. Multicriteria Evaluation in Real Estate Land-use Suitability Analysis: The case of Volos, Greece

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Panagiotis Dimitrios Tsachageas; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Geography; GIS; Real Estate; Multicriteria Evaluation; Fuzzy; AHP; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) into real estate analysis has long been considered an interesting interdisciplinary pursuit, but has yet to become mainstream. Despite the increasing academic focus over the last twenty years, this endeavour has mostly been approached from the scientific side of Geography. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Testing a contemplative landscape method to design a stress-reducing therapeutic landscape for the Mellanorrlands Hospice

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Urban and Rural Development

    Författare :Anna Artemeva; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Therapeutic garden; contemplation; stress reduction; palliative care; hospice centre;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the effectiveness of the Contemplative Landscape Method (CLM) in designing a stress-reducing therapeutic landscape for Mellanorrlands Hospice, aimed at improving the well-being of palliative care patients. With the increasing importance of palliative care due to an ageing population and the growing demand for hospice services, this study addresses the pressing need for therapeutic landscapes that make a positive contribution to the emotional and psychological health of patients and staff.
