1. Metaller i Vombsjön - Mygglarver som bioindikator för miljöövervakning
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC)Sammanfattning : This study investigates concentrations of eight metals (Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr, Ni, As) in the freshwater resource Lake Vomb, located in the south of Sweden (Scania), and explores the potential use of deformed Chironomidae larvae as bioindicator. Sediment samples from six locations were analysed against threshold values from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and background values from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. 2.
3. How does hydropeaking and geological substrate affect aquatic macroinvertebrates in a regulated river?
Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för miljö- och livsvetenskaper (from 2013)Sammanfattning : Hydropower is an important source of renewable energy, but is often a cause of degradation to river ecosystems. Hydropeaking, i.e. the frequent alteration of discharge, is a process involved in hydropower generation and has been proven to affect aquatic organisms negatively. LÄS MER
4. Stickleback diets in bays along the northen Baltic Sea
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Coastal populations of perch (Perca fluviatilis) in the Baltic Sea has declined substantially the last decades while the populations of three-spined sticklebacks (Gasterosteus aculeatus) has increased rapidly during the same time period. Earlier studies have suggested that predation on perch larvae and or competition from sticklebacks are the causes behind the decline in perch. LÄS MER
5. Mouthpart deformities of Chironomid larvae as an indicator of heavy metal polluted water
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Freshwater ecosystems are under increasing pressure from a variety of contaminants, including heavy metals from mining operations, which can have complex effects that are difficult to evaluate. To detect early warnings from elevated concentrations of metals, organisms are sought to be used as monitoring tools. LÄS MER
