  1. 1. Metaller i Vombsjön - Mygglarver som bioindikator för miljöövervakning

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC)

    Författare :Siri Bengtsson; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Bioindicators; Chironomidae; Freshwater source; Lake Vomb; Metal concentrations; Pollution; Sediment sampling; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates concentrations of eight metals (Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr, Ni, As) in the freshwater resource Lake Vomb, located in the south of Sweden (Scania), and explores the potential use of deformed Chironomidae larvae as bioindicator. Sediment samples from six locations were analysed against threshold values from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and background values from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. 2. 2. Coupling between iron and humic substances in a land-sea transitional zone in the northern Baltic Sea

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Anna Osterman; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Iron; Humic substances; Dissolved organic carbon; Baltic Sea; Rivers;

    Sammanfattning : In marine ecosystems around the world, iron (Fe) is a well-studied and important trace element which has been found to stimulate phytoplankton and cyanobacteria growth, as well as limit nitrogen fixation and being essential for Legionella pneumophila which is known as the main cause of Legionnaires’ disease. Fe also contributes to the brownification of freshwater and has recently been documented to increase in concentration in rivers in Sweden. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Evaluating the effects of climate change on Arctic char : including impacts of brown trout competition

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Ola Carlström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :arctic char; brown trout; climate change; diet; habitat use; temperature;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is predicted to increase the average global temperature with 1.5 °C between 2030 and 2052. The areas that are most vulnerable for climate change are the arctic regions. Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) is a cold-water salmonid species with the most northern distribution of all freshwater fish species. LÄS MER

  4. 4. En jämförande studie av vattenfiltreringsegenskaper mellan musslor inom olika habitat

    Kandidat-uppsats, Karlstads universitet

    Författare :Jesper Rickard; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Unio Tumidus; Freshwater mussels; Water filtration; Aquatic ecology; Acclimatization time; Biology; Unio Tumidus; sötvattenmusslor; Vattenfiltrering; Akvatisk ekologi; Aklimationstid; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Denna studie handlar om den vanliga sötvattensmusselarten Unio tumidus (U. tumidus), som har en viktig roll i vattenrening genom att filtrera organiskt material. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Optimal Discharge from a Hydropower Plant for Fish Reproduction: An Aquatic Habitat Model

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Författare :Hugo Lindbäck; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Weighted Usable Area WUA ; minimitappning; HEC-RAS; salmo; Helge å; den nationella planen för omprövning av vattenkraft NAP ; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Hydropower is the dominant source of electricity in Sweden, constituting 45% of the national supply. While pivotal for decarbonization and climate goals, its environmental impact on freshwater biodiversity is concerning. LÄS MER
