Förutsättningar för implementation av IoT-teknologi - En fallstudie om organisatoriska och tekniska förutsättningar vid implementation av IoT-teknologi
Sammanfattning: The Internet of Things (IoT) has expanded radically in recent years. The combination ofcloud technology and IoT technology has opened up new business opportunities fororganizations, especially in the manufacturing industry. At the same rate as the number ofIoT components increases, heterogeneity and complexity of data also increase. Due to thefact that implementations dealing with data-intensive IT systems differ from traditional ITimplementations, this paper examines particularly important conditions that need to beaddressed in IoT implementations. The essay maps two perspectives on key conditions forimplementing IoT technology. The first includes organizational conditions such as how datadrivenorganizations are, who the initiator is and the IT skills of their employees. The secondperspective addresses important technical conditions such as the choice of analyticalmethods, how the organization works with data management and how organizations adapttheir architecture in terms of process and storage distribution. To answer the question "Whatorganizational and technical conditions are necessary for implementing IoT technology?" Wesubmit a framework consisting of two themes with underlying conditions. Through a casestudy conducted at two major consulting companies, we received answers to howconsultancy companies work with the aforementioned conditions. After analyzing the results,we found that it is primarily the organizational conditions that should be considered for IoTimplementations because organizations generally do not possess the organizationalconditions for implementing IoT technology.
