Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to investigate social work students at Lund University's attitudes toward social services in Sweden and analyze the potential connection between the student's previous experience with social services and their attitudes using the Tripartite model of perspectives presented by Rosenberg and Hovland (1960). This study is based on a quantitative approach using an online survey to gather the empirical data. The survey was sent to 954 students with a response rate of 27 percent. The results show that most students have a positive attitude toward social services. The study also shows that there is a strong connection between negative experiences of social services and negative attitudes. The results also indicate that the experience most strongly related to the students’ attitudes was the students’ evaluation of their own experiences (if they had such experiences) of interning or working in social services. This contradicts the expectation that evaluation of their own experiences (if they had such experiences) of personal experiences of being a client or related to a client who has had contact with social services, is the most influential factor for attitude formation towards social services.
