Sammanfattning: Abstract Authors: Emelie Karlsson Ånhed and Ellinor Wisjö Title: Collaboration – Maybe, maybe not? Supervisor: Christina Erneling The aim of this study was undertaken with the aim of examining if there is any working collaboration between schools, social services, child/youth psychiatry and the police in the chosen community. We have not implicated a survey with pre-chosen answers, as we feel giving the interviewee the chance to reply in their own words with their own views gives a better total overview of the situation, than some form of multiple choice survey. Selected representatives from each above names departments were questioned to enable us to reach a varied selection of answers. Failure in cooperation or communication especially with regards the adolescent group’s mental health had led to many victims “falling through the cracks” and not being noticed by support groups. Despite being introduced several years ago, the cooperation between different departments has not shown positive results as the impact of working together has not implied the desired strength. It is more and more important we feel to highlight the need for a working collaboration between all parties to achieve the common goal of helping young people with problems. In order to understand and explain the theory of the different agencies working and cooperating together we start by using the facts of the already in place cooperation theory, this to show the complexity of a working result between adolescence and improving mental health. The results of our study shows a willingness within the authorities to cooperate even outside the designated zones, the only hinders being time and money. Patient privacy and secrecy of information is not something that would be perceived as an obstacle in working together, most important they believe would be the effects of creating trust for youth and a working collaboration between different agencies. Keywords: collaboration/cooperation, adolescent mental health, "falling between the cracks” and privacy.
