Folketshus Farstanäs

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från KTH/Arkitektur

Sammanfattning: The project is situated in a nature reserve in the municipality of Södertälje. The specific plot was chosen so that foundation work could be kept to a minimum. This was accomplished by choosing a rocky hillside as the site for the “Folketshus”. In addition to the traditional Folketshus, a wood workshop has been added to the program. By merging two separate programs, in this fashion, a new type of building can arise. In order for this amalgamation to be successful the new program has to be greater than the sum of its parts. To accomplish this there has to be an exchange of services or ideas between the two sub-programs. The idea is that the students learning the art of woodworking are primarily going to be building furniture that is going to be used by visitors in Folketshus. To meet ever-changing needs the curriculum of the workshop can modified so that what is created in the workshop is what the people of Folketshus want. Through this dialog Folketshus in Farstanäs will hopefully be better equipped to meet demands of future generations.
