Sammanfattning: Background: Palliative care is the care provided to patients in their final stage of life, focusing on symptom relief and alleviating suffering. Family members and patients in palliative care possess different experiences of it. Nurses play a central role in providing good palliative care, hence the goal of this study which is to create an overview of nurses' experiences in palliative care to contribute to an increased understanding of it. Aim: The aim was to create an overview of palliative care from a nursing perspective. Method: Literature study based on three quantitative and eight qualitative articles. Findings: The results were divided into four themes where nurses' experiences of competence in palliative care, nurses' experiences of interacting with family members and patients in palliative care, and nurses' experiences of communication were illuminated. The results show that it was important for nurses to establish good contact with patients and family members early in palliative care. Conclusions: Based on the analysis of the selected articles, it emerged that nurses often experienced a lack of competence or knowledge to provide the best possible palliative care. Keywords: Experiences qualitative, literature review, palliative care, nurses
