Sammanfattning: This study examines how powerlifters eat during a training or competition period as well as how they think about alcohol and supplements. There are many prejudices and myths about strength training people and their diet and what is classified as optimal, therefore it is interesting to respond to this with how it looks in reality. To find out, we used a qualitative interview study with semi-structured interviews. We used a purposive sample of six people of different ages, genders and clubs so that the interviewees' answers would not be similar to each other. However, the results of the study showed that there were many similarities regarding how powerlifters eat, such as a high carbohydrate intake in connection with training or competition. When it comes to supplements, the study showed divided opinions, with one person believing it to be essential while others believed that good food is the basis for good results. Previous research also shows that there are only four nutritional supplements that have scientific evidence behind them, while in reality there are incredibly many more nutritional supplements being marketed. Caffeine is the supplement that in the study was found to be used the most by powerlifters, this varied in amount from 180-540 mg in a day. Caffeine has a strong connection to the Nordics, where coffee is part of the culture, while leading companies in the industry such as NOCCO were founded here.
