Sammanfattning: Entrepreneurship is a part of society’s development. According to the Swedish curriculum for the compulsory school this enterprising and innovative mindset shall be fostered by developing the student’s entrepreneurial competences, such as responsibility and willingness to take action. Earlier studies have suggested that competences that are characteristic to an entrepreneur should be developed through the process of start-up and running of an enterprise. Although, the current view on entrepreneurship is that the entrepreneur and the enterprise of his or hers is affected by the context surrounding it. Such a view of entrepreneurship implies that entrepreneurial competences is in fact developed through the interactions between the entrepreneur and the context. In order to understand the elements included in the process of developing entrepreneurial competences, an understanding of the value creating process must be developed. This study aims to understand the value creation process in an enterprise with riding education. This type of enterprise contains education and learning and is furthermore noticed for developing leadership skills, which in the entrepreneurial field is associated with entrepreneurial competences. The interviewed business-managers have got a long experience from their line of business and of education, which is seen as an essential criterion in order to highlight crucial elements in the enterprise that promotes learning. The manager’s stories about their enterprise is analyzed from a theoretical model, which is constructed by an aim to understand how the process of learning integrates with the entrepreneurial process. The results of this study present that values created in this kind of enterprise has been identified as entrepreneurial competences such as emotional intelligence and the willingness to take action. An important element in the value creation process is the entrepreneur’s ability to identify and act by the needs of different individuals. Through the interviews, we approach an understanding of the value creation process in an enterprise with riding education.
