    Sammanfattning : Bakgrund: Dykreflexen är en reflex som aktiveras när däggdjur håller andan och när receptorer i ansiktet utsätts för kyla. Det är en evolutionär adaption som har utvecklats för att spara på syre i situationer då ny syretillförsel inte finns att tillgå.     Sammanfattning : The aim of my study was to estimate and compare the historic range of nine scavenging birds from North America that went jointly extinct with their mammalian megafaunal prey in the Late Pleistocene. Although the severity and timing of their co-extinction are strongly correlated, there has been little analytical support in providing estimates for the possible geographic distribution of scavenging birds prior to the extinction event.     Sammanfattning : Rabies is a fatal viral disease causing around 59,000 deaths each year worldwide. Out of all deaths, 95% occur in Africa and Asia. In Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) rabies is endemic with dogs being the main virus reservoir.
