  1. 1. The battle against sepsis : exploring the genotypic diversity of pseudomonas and proteus clinical isolates

    Master-uppsats, Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Författare :Suud Ahmed; [2023]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis is a dangerous and potentially fatal condition that has a mysterious origin, underscoring the significance of prompt and accurate diagnosis and treatment. Bacterial whole-genome sequencing, which is widely used in clinical microbiology, stands at the forefront of sequencing technologies, particularly to combat sepsis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ekologiska restaureringsåtgärders påverkan på unga trädplantor : bränning och luckhuggnings effekt på unga trädplantor

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Atle Brevik Svensson; Ludwig Olofsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :biodiversitet; bränning; luckhuggning; ekologisk restaurering; skogsbruk; störning; succession; trädslagsblandning; unga trädplantor;

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity is fundamental for a stable and functional ecosystem. However, studies have shown that biodiversity in Sweden is slowly declining due to modern forestry. This needs to be changed and ecological restoration can prevent further biodiversity loss. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Nocturnal moths use of novel habitats : a case study on a power line in a forest-mire mosaic in boreal Sweden

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Oskar Lövbom; [2020]
    Nyckelord :pollinators; Lepidoptera; moth; transmission line; assemblage structure; Noctuoidea; Geometridae;

    Sammanfattning : Biodiversity and pollinators are declining all over the world, and a factor thought to cause this decline is destruction of natural habitats. One new way that has been discussed in an effort to try to mitigate the effects of declining habitats is to understand and use novel habitats, which are habitats created when, for example, building roads, railways, and power lines. 4. 4. Kan man förutsäga biologisk mångfald i en livsmiljö utifrån livsmiljöns fördelning i ett landskap? : En teoretisk variabels förmåga att uppskatta biologisk mångfald testad mot empirin

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Författare :Frida Gyltman; [2019]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Biologisk mångfald är en förutsättning för leverans av ekosystemtjänster vilka utgör en viktig resurs för människan. Idag förekommer ett antal hot mot den biologiska mångfalden varav förlust och fragmentering av habitat räknas till de största. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Species and Biological Diversity - Choices of Diversity Indices and their Potential Consequences for Nature Conservation

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

    Författare :Robin Mårtensson; [2016]
    Nyckelord :biodiversity; diversity indices; Shannon-Wiener; Simpson; taxonomic diversity; nature conservation; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : As there currently are not so many known studies which directly evaluate how diversity indices have been used in different contexts, following literature study was made with the purpose of investigating how three of the most commonly used diversity indices (including Shannon-Wiener’s and Simpson’s Indices as well as a certain index measuring taxonomic diversity) are representing different categories of species in scientific reports and articles through an environmental scientific point of view. In order to find a possible explanation to the potential relations between the individual choice of diversity index as well as the substantial conservation of species and biological diversity in general, 50 reports and articles, which all had in common that they had species or biological diversity as their main topic as well as which included the use of any of the diversity indices chosen in this study, were randomly chosen through a single sample.
