Socialt stöd i relation till upplevd stress och upplevd anställningsotrygghet : Med fokus på chefens, kollegornas och närståendes betydelse

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

Sammanfattning: Today, stress and job insecurity oftentimes occur due to a flexible and uncertain job market. As social support has demonstrated a mitigating effect on stress and job insecurity, the purpose of this thesis was to investigate the relationship between different sources of social support and perceived stress, as well as perceived qualitative and quantitative job insecurity. The sources comprised supervisor, colleagues, and friends/family. A survey was conducted at a public organization in southern Sweden with 97 respondents (76% men, 24% women), with a response rate of 76%. The sample contained both blue and white collars across different positions. The survey consisted of scales that measured social support from supervisor, colleagues and friends/family, stress, qualitative and quantitative job insecurity. Three regression analyses revealed that supervisor support significantly explained unique variance in stress and qualitative job insecurity. As for quantitative job insecurity, colleague support significantly explained unique variance. This thesis brings implications for organizations as supervisor and colleague support explained unique variance, whereas friends/family not contributed significantly. These results suggest that divisions of the concept of job insecurity and the sources of social support are needed.
