Fallstudie om resurs- och kostnadseffektiviteten för logistiklösningen på byggprojektet Elisabeths port

Sammanfattning: The construction sector is an important industry that contributes to societal development by providing housing, public buildings, and infrastructure. To meet the high demand for construction while maintaining high quality and short project times,one needs to tackle one of the industry's major problems: waste. Waste can lead todelays and reduced profitability for a project and can arise in many ways, includingpoor material handling, lack of coordination, unnecessary transportation routes, and poor planning.The purpose of this study is to examine and describe MVB's current logistics strategyfor the construction project Elisabeth's Port in Vänersborg, as well as to assess whetherthe solution has been cost- and resource-effective compared to the traditionalconstruction process.To gain insight into the logistics solution and how it has worked in practice, a semistructured interview study has been conducted with the parties involved in the project.Separate interviews have been conducted with craftsmen, subcontractors, and sitemanagers to obtain as broad a picture as possible. In addition to these interviewgroups, the project manager at MVB and the logistics manager at Ahlsell have also beeninterviewed as a complement.MVB has provided, among other things, invoice documents, daily logs, and damagereports, which have been analyzed to investigate the logistics solution's resource andcost-effectiveness. Using this material, a calculation has been performed to comparethe project's costs now versus if a more traditional logistics solution had been used forthe project.The results of the interview study showed that all work groups appreciated working on Elisabeth's Port, but there are some areas for improvement. One recurring issue is thehandling of materials, where, for example, many damages have occurred. This is also supported by the damage report. Although the logistics solution has worked on thisproject, it is not a guarantee that it is the optimal solution for all future constructions.It all depends on the complexity of the project and other external factors such asgeography, building design, location, and schedule. For Elisabeth's Port, the logisticssolution has been both cost- and resource-effective in the sense that somesubcontractors have been able to perform their work with fewer workers on site thanusual and that MVB would have needed an additional on-site supervisor if the logisticssolution had not been used. The project has also had a lower final cost now comparedto if this logistics solution had not been used.
