Sammanfattning: Today you have two options when you need a reception – either you buy a complete system from Kinnarps, or any other massproducer of receptions, or you ask an architect to draw a reception developed for your specific environment. The difference in price for the alternatives is huge. The purpose of my thesis is to give consumers the possibility to choose from a new category of receptions. I want to offer consumers a reception where you can get unique expressions and design to a relatively low cost. In this graduation work I have developed a generic system for receptions. The furniture has a flexible relation to the overall design which is unique if you compare to other systems on the market today. Even though the system could be mass-produced it is possible to create a reception with a unique design especially created for a specific environment. I hope that architects think that they have been given a new opportunity to use this generic system to build receptions but still have the possibility to be creative and create uniquely designed receptions. This thesis has been created in cooperation with White arkitekter. White arkitekter is working with a project to design Naturum Höga Kusten. Höga Kusten is an area in Sweden where the ground heightening is the highest in the world (8 mm/year). The project is supposed to work as a meeting place for tourists, students, tutors and scientists. A part of this thesis has been to develop a proposition of a reception to Naturum. The reception for Naturum is based on the generic system for receptions I have developed. As part of my thesis I have developed a prototype of the generic system for receptions in scale 1:1. Also, I have developed a digital visualisation of how the reception at Naturum Höga Kusten could be made by using my system for receptions.
