Sammanfattning: The aim of this research was to investigate the impact of translanguaging onthe learning of Spanish as a foreign language, as well as to identify thestrategies that promote translanguaging in the classroom and how studentsuse their language skills to learn Spanish. The use of translanguaging in theclassroom is becoming more common and leads to a better understanding ofother languages. The study involved 18 students and a substitute teacher, with both qualitative and quantitative methods used, including observations, surveys, and interviews. The results showed that there are four strategies thatencourage translanguaging in the classroom, and that English and Swedishare the languages mainly used by the students when using translanguaging. The interviews provided a more in-depth understanding of the students' responses to the questionnaire, particularly regarding how translanguagingaffects their learning of Spanish.
