Status and influencing factors of quality life of older people in nursing homes in Lishui : A questionnaire study

Sammanfattning: Background: China is facing a great challenge of an aging population, resulting in decreasedquality of life among the older people.Aim: This study aimed to describe status and influencing factors for quality of life of olderpeople in nursing homes.Method: In this study, a cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted. Using a convenientsampling, 463 older people were selected from 29 nursing homes in Lishui. The life satisfactionquestionnaire was used to measure quality of life of the older people in the study.Result: The nursing residents in the study aged ranging from 63 to 101 years, with an averageage of 83.01±7.77 years, including 235 males and 228 females. The mean score of the totalLife satisfaction questionnaire was 65.71±10.73. The results showed that influencing factors ofquality of life included medical payment method, economic income, marital status and whetherthey suffered from multiple diseases.Conclusion: The findings indicated that the improvement of the quality of life of nursing homeresidents might include providing social support about chronic disease management, especiallyfor those with basic medical insurance, lower economic income, and those without partners.Key words: older people, quality of life
