Sammanfattning: The purpose of this literature study is to examine, through existing research, the relationship between yoga-based practices in school and the mental health and well-being of students and teachers in an increasingly stressed and high-performing world. Our questions are: What does research say about yoga-based practices in relation to mental health and well-being in schools in different countries? What methods have been used for research on yoga-based practices and mental health and well-being in schools in different countries? What methods have been used for the implementation of yoga-based practices in schools? In order to achieve the aim and answer our questions, we have chosen to do a systematic literature study. We have used the term Yoga Based Practices (YBP) which refers to various practices, techniques and methods to promote physical mental and spiritual well-being including improved flexibility, strength, mental clarity and stress management. We went through studies that investigated the effects and experiences of YBP on students and teachers in different parts of the world and synthesized the information with Aron Antonovsky's salutogenic perspective where the core concept of SOC (Sense Of Coherence) is used as a theoretical framework. The studies were searched through the Google Scholar, PubMed, Web of science and ERIC databases where we read 36 studies that investigated YBP in school environments, of which 7 were selected for deeper analysis where we did a content analysis and identified different themes. Researchers from different countries have used varying methods of data collection and obtained similar results that show a strong optimism for what YBP can mean for students and teachers in a school environment. At the same time, relevant criticism is raised against the fact that YBP risks being used for the wrong purpose and creating further polarization in the education system. The results show that mainly two methods are used for the implementation of yoga-based practices in schools: integration into the curriculum and external training over a longer period, both with very promising results for the well-being and well-being of students and teachers. We conclude that it indicates a strong relationship between regular practice of yoga-based practices in school and an increase in psychological well-being in both teachers and students.
