Sammanfattning: This study is a quantitative content analysis of the coral gardening in different climate zones and its limitations and possibilities. The purpose of the study is to highlight the different approaches to coral gardening and whether these could be implemented in other climate zones. I will also highlight why coral gardening is important from an environmental perspective. To conduct the study, I have collected empirical data. The material consist of scientific papers, articles, reports and books. In the warmer climate zones, research has been conducted on 86 species and 100 000 colonies in the warm climate zones while in the colder climate zones resarch only have been conducted species and no known number on how many colonies that have been used. The methods consistently used are the Gardening tenet and the Gardening Concept. Of these two methods, the Gardening Concept are used in most research projects in both climate zones. On average, the method are the method the researchers recommend whether it comes to coral gardening in warmer climates or colder. Throughout, however, the researchers agree that more research is needed than in the current situation are available. The researchers also believe that more measures is needed to protect the reefs. In the current situation OSPAR Commission and CITES works to protect coral reefs worldwide. These measures are also needed to coral reefs in the long term to be able to present themselves in the passive restoration, not just active. The most important conclusion of the study is that despite the similarities and differences in the two climate zones, some of the aspects in the different methods can be implemented in other climate zones. From an environmental perspective, scientific coral cultivation is important to preserve the coral reefs around the world, thus preserving the wide biodiversity that has coral reefs as their habitats.
