Sammanfattning: As a consequence of the exports of Saab AB’s airplane 39 Gripen the department FATPA has grown and developed substantially in a short period of time. With the aim to clearly define and describe the establishment and its new work procedures and routines, which are meant to be applied after the turn of the year 2005/2006, FATPA is aiming to develop a management model which will contain the above. The purpose of the management model is to describe how the department FATPA wants to work, especially with consideration to the department’s management. The purpose of this master thesis is to develop and illustrate as well as document a management model that aims to secure that the department is well functioning and controlled. This research was, to begin with, implemented by examining theory within the investigated subject. The investigators carried out the empirical study by participating in, and observing, the organisation as well as by interviewing the employees. During this empirical study a general model which could be applied to several organisations was developed. Then an analysis of the studied organisation was conducted by comparing the theory with the material from the empirical experience. To analyse the study’s empirical material the investigators used an analysing method known as SWOT. The next step was constituted by developing and adjusting the general model to the department on the basis of the information gathered in the analysis. The model that evolved is meant to secure an organisation in which management has more control and better adjusting ability. A key element which the organisation is lacking is follow-up. The investigators recommend that the department apply follow-up within these areas: deliverables, quality and efficiency. Another important matter in the organisation’s future is the relationship with the suppliers who deliver the data that underlies the instruction that is refined by FATPA. If the department does not receive the data the production of instructions cannot proceed. If the relationship between the suppliers and FATPA does not get elucidated and formalized, all the internal organisational development will become useless and inefficient. It is also of great importance that the organisational development group is maintained, either in its present constellation or in a new form. The reason for this is that the organisation is in constant need of development.
