1. Glacier front variatons in Sweden: 2015-2022
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : This study aims at increasing the amount of data available on recent past Swedish glacier front variations, at improving the knowledge on the present behavior of these glaciers, and at contributing to the defnition of the guideline for future of glacier front observations in Sweden. To do so, the study proposes Sentinel-2 based yearly front variation measurements for 22 Swedish glaciers between 2015 and 2022, calculated based on the multicentreline approach of the MaQiT tool. 2. A CINEMATIC VILLAGE FOR A CHANGING LANDSCAPE - AN ALPINE ROMANTIC STORY
Master-uppsats, KTH/ArkitekturSammanfattning : Climate change has already had noticeable effects on the environment. Glaciers are retreating, ice on lakes and rivers is melting earlier, plant and animal species have relocated, and trees are blooming sooner. LÄS MER
3. Implications of a rapidly thinning ice-margin for annual moraine formation at Gornergletscher, Switzerland
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : This study examines genetic processes and climatological significance of annual moraine formation in the foreland of Gornergletscher, a large alpine-valley glacier located in the southern Swiss Alps. A particular focus is set on moraine ridges that have been forming between 2007 and 2019, a period when the glacier has been subject to accelerated retreat and pronounced frontal thinning. LÄS MER
4. Processes of lateral moraine formation at a debris-covered glacier, Suldenferner (Vedretta di Solda), Italy
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionenSammanfattning : Lateral moraines are key features of glacial landscapes in high-alpine mountain areas. Research on lateral moraine formation is mostly limited to clean-ice glaciers; lateral moraine formation at the margins of debris-covered glaciers is currently poorly understood in an Alpine and sedimentological context. 5. Near-Surface Energy Balance on an Alpine Rock Glacier: Murtèl-Corvatsch
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : This project investigates the near surface energy balance on the Murt`el-Corvatsch rock glacier in the Upper Engadine, Swiss Alps, using the 1D physical SNOWPACK model. A correct representation of the near surface energy balance is important to predict the long term evolution of permafrost below rock glaciers. LÄS MER
