  1. 1. Lejarfjället Garnet(?) Peridotite – Origin and Petrological Characterization of Symplectitic Aggregates in Ultramafic Rocks

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Mineralogi, petrologi och tektonik

    Författare :Felicia Eriksson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :ultramafic; high-pressure metamorphism; peridotite; garnet breakdown; Scandinavian Caledonides; ultramafisk; högtrycks metamorfos; peridotit; granat; skandinaviska kaledoniderna;

    Sammanfattning : Ultramafic rocks are abundant in the Earth’s mantle but rare on the surface. Since no in-situ samples from the mantle can be collected, mantle rocks provide knowledge of mechanisms operating in the mantle and large-scale processes that brought them up to the surface. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Integration of geology with geophysics : Case studies from Svalbard

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Sofia Rylander; Anna Sterley; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Gravity Measurements; Magnetic Measurements; Anomalies; Seismic; Fault Zones; Svalbard;

    Sammanfattning : This is a study where new and old geophysical data together with information found in literature has been integrated to get a better understanding of the geological evolution of Svalbard. The purpose of the study is to acquire and integrate different geophysical data over the Central Spitsbergen Basin (CSB) and across the Billefjorden Fault Zone (BFZ). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Unraveling the Tectonic History of the Aurek Metagabbro within the Seve Nappe Complex, Scandinavian Caledonides

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Sabine Rousku; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Scandinavian Caledonides; Seve Nappe Complex; Aurek metagabbro; Kebnekaise Mountains; Zircon U-Pb Geochronology; Thermodynamic modeling; Geochemistry; Skandinaviska Kaledoniderna; Seveskollan; Aurek metagabbro; Kebnekaisebergen; zirkon U-Pb geokronologi; Termodynamisk modellering; Geokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The Scandinavian Caledonides form a mountain range comprising nappe stacks of numerous far-travelled thrust sheets. The thrust sheets consist of diverse lithologies representing pre- and synorogenic sedimentary and igneous rocks subsequently metamorphosed to various degrees, from the Late Neoproterozoic to Middle Devonian. 4. 4. Geobiological Impacts of PalaeozoicLand Plant Evolution

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Paleobiologi

    Författare :Camille Valette; [2021]
    Nyckelord :land plants; geobiological impacts; extinction; Palaeozoic; paleobotany; landväxter; geobiologiska effekter; utrotning; Paleozoikum; paleobotanik;

    Sammanfattning : For two centuries, questions about the origin of terrestrial plants and their impacts on the Earth systemhave occupied palaeobotanists. This essay attempts to synthesise the state of research to date, and outlineareas where major questions remain. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cr-spinels in the Franklinian Mobile Belt : a geochemical record of Paleozoic tectonics

    Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Författare :Malvina Forbes Halldén; [2019]
    Nyckelord :geology; geochemistry; spinel; Cr-spinel; chromite; SEM; scanning electron microscope; electron microprobe; EMP; electron probe microanalyzer; EPMA; electron micro probe analyzer; EMPA; petrogenetic indicator; microscopy; alteration; Franklinian Mobile Belt; Kulutingwak Formation; Clements Markham fold belt; Pearya; Paleozoic; suprasubduction zone; SSZ; island arc; IA; Arctic Canadian Archipelago; Ellesmere Island; Canada; 2017 Circum-Arctic Structural Events Expedition 19; Memorial University of Newfoundland; geologi; geokemi; spinell; Cr-spinell; kromit; SEM; svepeletronmikroskopi; elektronmikrosondanalys; EMP; EPMA; EMPA; petrogenetisk indikator; mikroskopi; Franklinian Mobile Belt; Kulutingwak-formationen; Clements Markham fold belt; Pearya; Paleozoikum; suprasubduktionszon; SSZ; öbåge; IA; Kanadas arktiska öar; Ellesmereön; Kanada; 2017 Circum-Arctic Structural Events Expedition 19; Memorial University of Newfoundland;

    Sammanfattning : The chemical compositions of Cr-spinel extracted from mafic and ultramafic rocks collected on Ellesmere Island in the Arctic Canadian Archipelago were obtained through electron microprobe analyses. The extensively altered rocks are sampled from rock units in the Franklinian MobileBelt, which is representative of a Paleozoic tectonically active oceanic regime of which little is presently known.
