  1. 1. Measuring copper abundances in the Galactic Bulge

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Nikolei Höglinger; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Copper; Galaxy: abundances; Galaxy: bulge; Chemical Evolution; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Context: The chemical evolution of Cu in the Galactic bulge have been studied in a few studies using red giant branch stars, but the ages of individual red giant stars are difficult to determine. In addition, the bulge has been a challenging region of the Milky Way galaxy to obtain high-resolution spectra of stars, except when observing through certain few small fields into the bulge that are known to have low extinction. 2. 2. The quest for a classical bulge - a study of kinematics, abundances, and ages using microlensed dwarf stars and Gaia

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Calum Kvernes Macpherson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Bulge; Milky Way; Kinematics; Galpy; Dwarf Stars; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Context: We present an kinematical analysis of 90 F and G type dwarf, turn-off, and subgiant stars in the Galactic bulge. These stars were observed with high-resolution spectrographs during gravitational microlensing events This allowed for their ages, abundances, and radial velocities to be ascertained while they were significantly brighter. 3. 3. The tangled Warp of the Milky Way

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Viktor Hrannar Jónsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Galaxy: structure; Galaxy: kinematics and dynamics; Galaxy: disk; Galaxy: evolution; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Context: The Milky Way disc, like the discs of many other spiral galaxies, has been shown to be warped. The growing astrometric data set for stars produced by the Gaia mission allows for more detailed studies of the stellar disc's warp. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The chemical evolution of the Milky Way: pushing APOGEE to higher precision and accuracy

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Erik Fridén; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In the recent decade, a rapid increase in all-sky spectroscopic surveys has occurred, and with it, the wealth of observational data and information on our Galaxy. Consequently, numerous detections of new structures, such as new open clusters, accreted and in-situ components, are discovered. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Application of Physics-Informed Neural Networks for Galaxy Dynamics

    Master-uppsats, Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för fysik och elektroteknik (IFE)

    Författare :Lucas Barbier; [2023]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Developing efficient and accurate numerical methods to simulate dynamics of physical systems has been an everlasting challenge in computational physics. Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) are neural networks that encode laws of physics into their structure. LÄS MER
