  1. 1. Optimering av passagelösningar för juveniler av europeisk ål (Anguilla anguilla)

    Kandidat-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för miljö- och livsvetenskaper (from 2013)

    Författare :Simon Brandelind; [2023]
    Nyckelord :european eel; glass eel; passage solution; passage ramp; flow; lateral; hydro power; hydropower dam; biodiversity; europeisk ål; glasål; passagelösning; passageramp; flöde; lateral; vattenkraft; kraftverksdamm; biologisk mångfald;

    Sammanfattning : Förlorad biologisk mångfald är ett av de största hoten mot vår planet, och i sötvatten har populationer av migrerande fiskarter minskat med 76 % sedan 70-talet. Ålen är en art som hotas av utrotning på grund av antropogen inverkan, framför allt på grund av kraftverksdammar som fragmenterar habitat och förhindrar artens livsnödvändiga migration upp- och nedströms vattendrag genom avsaknad av passagelösningar. 2. 2. Methanobacterium cauma sp. nov., a hydrogenotrophic, halotolerant methanogen from an active serpintinization system at Chimaera seep

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Aubree Stephens; [2023]
    Nyckelord :methanogen; archaea; hydrogenotroph; halotolerant; Methanobacterium; Chimaera seep; methanogenesis;

    Sammanfattning : The archaeal branch of life represents some of the oldest life forms on Earth. Archaea are believed to have diverged from Prokaryotes roughly 3.5 billion years ago and it’s theorized that biological methane production started around this time as well. This would make methanogenesis one of the oldest metabolisms on our planet. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Assessment of the integration of solar heat power into food drying processes

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för energivetenskaper

    Författare :Charalampos Psilopoulos; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Sustainable; sustainability; co2 reduction; feasibility; solar thermal; direct steam generation; drying; food industry; scope 1 emissions; sdg; sustainable development goals; spray drying; drum drying; powder; food; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The long-lasting usage of fossil fuels has brought its negative impact on the planet and thus the society is turning towards more environmentally sustainable solutions in every aspect of life. This master’s thesis discusses the novel topic of integrating concentrated solar thermal collectors, which directly produce steam, to drying processes in the food industry, which is proven to currently emit significant amounts of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs). 4. 4. Investigating surface spring snow : Changes in the isotopic composition and conductivity along an orographic precipitation gradient in northern Fennoscandia

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Sara Andersson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :stable isotopes; snow; precipitation; hydrology; orography; earth science;

    Sammanfattning : Stable isotopes of oxygen (O18) and hydrogen (H2) are used as proxies of past climates when ice preserved in the polar icecaps. The main assumption when doing paleoclimatic reconstructions using these isotopes is that the isotopic composition of the snow that turned into ice reflect the present temperature of the planet during deposition. 5. 5. The effect of high-ratio biochar replacement in concrete on performance properties : Experimental study of biochar addition to concrete mixture.

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Byggkonstruktion och brand

    Författare :Mina Turovaara; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Biochar; Concrete; Sustainability; Cement; Biochar in concrete; Carbon dioxide; Building industry; Micro-structure; Biokol; Betong; Hållbarhet; Cement; Biokol i betong; Koldioxid; Byggsektorn; Mikrostruktur;

    Sammanfattning : Globally the emissions of carbon dioxide from anthropogenic activities are an issue regarding the future of our planet. Today the building industry is a large contributor with approximately 10 percent of the total emissions coming from energy usage in the building industry, where about 7 percent of the global CO2 emissions are connected to the cement industry.
