  1. 6. Electron Assisted Growth of Graphene atop Ir(111) supported Hexagonal Boron Nitride

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Lassi Linnala; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Two-dimensional materials; Two-dimensional heterostructures; Graphene; hexagonal Boron Nitride; STM; LEED; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Vertical heterostructures between graphene (Gr) and hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) have attracted a great deal of interest, due to their potential applications in the semiconductor industry as new and superior transistor materials. The direct growth of the heterostucture still remains challenging and in this bachelor thesis, I report a novel electron assisted growth technique, which is used to attempt to grow Gr atop hBN atop an Ir(111) single crystal surface. 2. 7. Performance and Wear Behavior of Ultra-Hard Cutting Tools during Machining of Titanium Alloy

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Industriell Produktion

    Författare :Rebecka Lindvall; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Metal cutting; Machining performance; Titanium machining; Ti6Al4V; α β -alloy; Tool wear; Wear mechanisms; Cost efficiency; Colding analysis; Cemented carbide; PCD; pcBN; TEM; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Since the 1950’s, a wide range of titanium alloys has been developed. Attractive titanium properties are the high strength-to-weight ratio, resistance towards corrosion, low thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Electron Assisted Growth of h-BN on Gr/Ir(111)

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Virginia Boix De La Cruz; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Two-dimension materials; 2D; Graphene; hexagonal Boron Nitride; Growth; CVD; STM; XPS; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Stacked heterostructures of two-dimensional (2D) materials are emerging as promising building blocks for a wide range of applications. These devices, which range from tunneling transistors to light-emitting diodes, use the properties of 2D materials that are not accessible by their bulk counterparts. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Fabrication of Tunneling Field Effect Transistors (TFETs) and the study of graphene

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Carlos Nunez Lobato; [2018]
    Nyckelord :graphene; semiconductor; exfoliation; boron nitride; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : After the discovery of graphene in 2004, a single layer of graphite, the assembly of 2D materials became a promising research area in solid state Physics. This thesis explores fabrication of 2D-heterostructures that aim to probe into graphene’s electronic structure with the Tunneling Field Effect Transistor (TFET). LÄS MER

  5. 10. Self Lubricating Components

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskaper

    Författare :Simon Tidén; Niklas Levin Bjärnlid; Tim Melin; Daniéla Quist; Filip Selenius Larsson; [2017]
    Nyckelord :self lubricating; solid lubricant; high speed steel; powder metallurgy; friction; wear; molybdenum disulfide; tungsten disulfide; hexagonal boron nitride; soft metals; copper;

    Sammanfattning : The tribological and mechanical properties are of great importance for a material’s lifetime, since it is highly dependent on these two factors. The purpose of this report was to examine suitable solid lubricants for Erasteel, a company that manufactures hot isostatic pressed high speed steels, that will enhance the tribological properties of their steels without worsening the mechanical properties.
