1. Method evaluation for probing DNA sorption to clay minerals : Evaluation of fluorescent and spectroscopic quantification of DNA as well as DNA interactions of Kaolinite and Montmorillonite
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Kemiska institutionenSammanfattning : The association of DNA/RNA to mineral surfaces is an emerging field with widespread applications from biotechnological solutions to paleogenetics. Evaluating available methods to quantify adsorption will be essential to further investigate how to control and predict loading of DNA onto minerals. LÄS MER
2. An investigation of the interactions between clay nanoplatelets in the presence of monovalent and divalent salts, as well as cationic peptides utilising atomistic molecular dynamics
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionenSammanfattning : Clays are negatively charged nanoplatelets with a layered silicate structure. It has been observed from small angle X-ray scattering measurements, and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations (CG-MD) that clay nanoplatelets are able to form stacks, known as tactoids, in the presence of divalent or multivalent counterions [8, 5]. 3. Mineralogy and petrology of a drill core section from Borg, SW Norrköping – fracture fillings and tentative mineral reactions
Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaperSammanfattning : During drilling at Borg, ca. 5 km southwest of central Norrköping, an unidentified fine-grained grey rock was encountered in contact with dark red granitic gneiss at 35m depth. The fine-grained grey rock occurs above the red granitic gneiss. LÄS MER
4. Radiation Effects on KBS-3 Barriers: SKB’s work so far
Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för kemivetenskap (CHE)Sammanfattning : In the Swedish concept for final disposal of spent nuclear fuel, referred to as KBS-3, a three-layered protection system is used. The system consists of a copper canister holding the spent nuclear fuel deposited 500 meters in a repository built in groundwater saturated granitic rock. LÄS MER
5. PILCs for trapping phosphorus in a heavy duty engine exhaust system : An experimental evaluation of the phosphorus sorption capability of different clay materials
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/StrukturkemiSammanfattning : In order to fulfil the requirements in the EURO VI standard, regulating emissions from heavy duty vehicles, the exhaust aftertreatment system needs to maintain its efficiency for at least seven years or 700 000 km. In diesel applications the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) is located closest to the engine and is thus the most vulnerable to poisoning contaminants, such as phosphorus originating from fuel and oil additives, which deactivates the catalyst.
