Strategisk flexibilitets samband med projektprestation : Proaktiva och reaktiva strategier

Detta är en Magister-uppsats från Karlstads universitet/Handelshögskolan (from 2013)

Sammanfattning: The field of knowledge in project management has developed strongly in recent years, but it is rarely explained that a project succeeds without encountering one or more problems along the way. There can also be delays or overruns of the budget, but also about the projects being carried out according to expectations that have been set for the project. This is something that is described as costly for companies and will be negatively affected by the project. One of the reasons why a project faces these problems is that the project manager has not managed to identify the internal and external risks that could conceivably affect the outcome of the project negatively and has also not managed to implement successful strategies that proactively and reactively manage these. Project managers need help finding ways to identify potential future problems and to deal with them both proactively and reactively. Since previous studies have mainly focused on the reactive part and both parts are needed to be able to manage the changing and uncertain environment the project is in and thus minimize the risk of the project failing, this study examines whether there is a relationship between the degree of use of proactive and. reactive strategies and project performance. The study is therefore based on a quantitative method where the data collection took place through a quantitative survey where the respondents were people who worked within projects with knowledge of the development of proactive and reactive strategies as well as knowledge of the project's achievements. The result showed that the regression model was not significant. The conclusion is that there is no support for proactive and reactive strategic flexibility together in predicting project performance.Furthermore, the results of planning, structure, risk analysis, and environmental analyses, setting up a longer timetable, and preparing for multiple solutions were considered to be mainly used as proactive strategies. Furthermore, for an agile and flexible way of working, status reports and reconciliations as well as openness and transparency were used as reactive strategies.
