Sammanfattning: In light of the Danish society becoming more and more secular, we wish to examine in this study, how a group of young Christians in a free church in Copenhagen, Denmark are experiencing stigmatization based on their religious belief, as well as how they choose to handle it. Furthermore, this study shows how young Christians develop their identity based on said stigmatization and the meeting with the secular society, in their late teens. The number of Christians in Denmark is declining and the view on Christianity in general has changed with that. This tendency is clear in the media, where Christians often feel that they are portrayed negatively and also in the way that Christian peoples’ faith is met by other people. This particular study focuses on how young Christians’ faith is met by non-religious young people, in places like high school. By using a theoretical framework of concepts of stigma and identity, we wish to shed light on how a combination of being stigmatized and also having a strong Christian community, has impacted each persons self-image and creation of their identity.
