Sammanfattning: Stop complaining, you got laid! – A gender scientific text analysis based on how male victims of rape are portrayed on Flashback What is perceived as masculine and what attributes our society deam consistant with being male is something that varies from place to place, and is ever changing. We wanted to examine how people talk about these things to better understand the social order we live in and so that we might be able to relate better to our clients. The purpose with our thesis was to view how people talk about male rape victims and their perpetrators on the Internet forum Flashback. Our questions were: - What attributes are being assigned to men who have been victims of rape? - What attributes are being assigned to the people that have raped men? We chose to do a text analysis of seven threads that we saw as being compatible with our purpose, wich gave us 598 posts as our material. To analyze our findings we applied, among others, Raewyn Connell´s theory of hegemonic masculinity, Judith Butler´s theory of heteronormativity and Stuart Hall´s theory of stereotypification. Our conclusions were that the male rapists were described as: foreign, bestial, heterosexual, sexmaniacs, muslim, from a different culture, avengers, masculine, violent and criminal. The female rapists were not seen as rapists at all, unless they were perceived as ugly. And the men that had been victims of rape were described as: wimpy, unmanly, homosexuals who were ashamed of their sexuality, sexually willing and defenseless.
