Sammanfattning: This thesis uses Blok and Haines theories on meaningful violence and the effect of radical flanks to examine the role of violence in the political debate on women's suffrage in Sweden. To do this the study takes a broader perspective on the women's suffrage struggle and examines the course of events and possible shifts in the Swedish debate on the issue of women's suffrage linked to violence by the international movement’s radical flank, the British suffragettes. This study takes the form of a case study with a timeline perspective over the years 1906-1918. Based on these theories the hypothesis is that violence can be seen to have an impact even in cases that are otherwise considered to be peaceful, such as the one of Swedens women's suffrage. The results of the study show how violence through this radical flank had indirect effects on the Swedish debate and provided Swedens movement for women's suffrage with several advantages while avoiding some of the main risks of radical flank violence.
