Utbildning i informationskompetens - en litteraturstudie av förhållandet mellan forskning och praktik

Detta är en Magister-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för ABM, digitala kulturer samt förlags- och bokmarknadskunskap

Sammanfattning: This Master’s thesis in library and information science deals with the relationship between research and practice of information literacy education. Information literacy is a common field of research and many theories and models have been developed through the years. The concept is widely used in society and one goal for educational institutions is to train students to become information literate. The aim of this study is to investigate how research and practice of information literacy education is influenced by each other in the comprehensive school, upper secondary school and university. The questions at issue are: To what degree of extent are the research findings noticeable in the practical education of information literacy in the comprehensive school, upper secondary school and university? In what way is the research of information literacy influenced by practice? Is there a difference between concept use in the various educational institutions concerning the concept of information literacy and learning together with other kindred concepts? The method is a literature study of eight Swedish studies from 2002-2007. The theoretical basis of the literature study is to see education and learning from a sociocultural perspective. The result shows that research and practice is not on the same level. The practical educations of information literacy seldom appropriate current research findings. On the other hand, the practice has influenced research to some extent. The various educational institutions, but also research and practice, use different concepts to some extent. A stronger connection between research and practice and a common concept use would strengthen the students´ information literacy.
