Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to investigate preschool teachers approach on the environment of the preschool and its possibilities for activities of movement. The method used in this study was interviews. Four preschool teachers were selected from four different preschools, one teacher per school. These preschools were all public and located in a small municipality. The results showed that preschools are performing planned activities for movement, however these activities are performed indoors or in the nearby environment and not in the actual outdoor environment of the preschool. Because of its design the outdoor environment in preschools offer various possibilities for movement development. Preschools in this study used the nearby environment to give children varied movement. Preschool teachers also underlined the importance of using the nearby forest as a complement to give children the possibility for movement development in a natural way.
