Miljökvalitetsmålet ”Giftfri Miljö” Tillståndet i Lunds kommun och förslag till framtida åtgärder

Sammanfattning: In Sweden 16 national goals have been elaborated to aim for an environmentally sustainable society. These goals should not only be implemented at a national level but also at the regional and community level. In Lund 13 documents have been developed, for 13 of the 16 national goals describing the environmental state in Lund associated to the goal in question. These documents will lead to local environmental goals. My aim is to update one of the 13 documents, the document describing toxins in the environment and what Lund can do to improve their work and which goals can be developed in the future. This report is divided into eight parts which are: pesticides, human health, toxins in wastewater and sludge, stormwater, metals in freshwater, contaminated areas, toxins in living organisms and PCB in buildings. The report will be written based on literature studies, information from databases and interviews. The results show that Lund do not have a clear policy regarding pesticide spraying in urban areas and should develop one to prevent pesticides from leaking to the environment to set a god example. They should also have some strategy for informing residents in Lund regarding chemicals both the ones we use, like pesticides, but also chemicals you can find in clothes, the food we eat, water we drink and toys our children play with. This can hopefully lead to consumers that can make choices that are good for their health and for the environment. Today Lund does not have any environmental monitoring, this is important to establish to get an overview of the condition of the environment. In Lund this can be done regarding metals in freshwater in Höje å and Sularpsbäcken (almost all other freshwater streams are already under monitoring), regarding pesticides in surface water and drinking water and regarding pesticides and toxins in organisms in freshwater in Lund that are expected being most contaminated.
