Sammanfattning: Solar energy is a market that continues to grow and develop. In an age where renewable energy types, energy-saving systems and environmentally friendly solutions are discussed, solar energy is central. As both Sweden's energy supply and climate goals are highly topical for discussion, this work has been carried out. The aim is to analyze what challenges solar energy in Sweden is facing and how they could have been facilitated for faster development of the solar energy market. In the execution of this investigation, literature studies have been used. Sweden is far behind the rest of Europe when it comes to solar energy installations, something that may seem strange since solar energy is not a new concept in Sweden. A major challenge facing solar cells is the high prices of modules and equipment. The long delivery times are also a major challenge that may affect the motivation to invest in solar cells. The study shows that a reduction of these costs would likely have increased the willingness to invest significantly. Solar cells in themselves are an environmentally friendly alternative. As with many other things, it is the manufacturing that has the greatest environmental impact. The development of solar cells in Sweden is a challenge that faces numerous obstacles, but also opportunities. The challenges that exist for the development of solar cells in Sweden are mostly bureaucratic and much depends on decisions from the government. It is the future that will determine what role solar cells will have, but they will certainly be needed.
