Den "gode" diakonen: En intervjustudie i diakoners självmedvetenhet utifrån maktrelationer i den profetiska diakonins tid

Sammanfattning: This essay aims to examine the deacons, that is working at the Church of Sweden, understanding of them self according to power, impotent, duties, exposure and reparation. The main questions for this essay where, how do the deacon perceive the balance of power towards their clients, in what extent do the deacons feel impotent in their work, what do they se as their most important task as a deacon and who do they se as exposure and how can these reach reparations? To examine these questions I interviewed five deacons during four different sessions. After the interviews I analyzed them according to Ulla Holms theories on how to be a professional helper. I also use a text, written by the Church of Sweden’s bishops, that converts the deacons ordinations vows into how a deacon should act. After the discussion of the result from the interviews I could do my conclusions. Deacons are aware of their power towards their clients, but they do point out that they must use the power to benefit their clients and never to use it to gain on it them self. When the deacons feel impotent at their work it depends both their own and the systems flaws. Two of their most important task are prophetic diaconal work and give people a context to be in. Immigrants, people in debts, addicts and Romani people where among these who the deacon saw as exposure. One way to give them reparation, was to helping them to help them self and also to enhance visibility of these people and their problems.
