Sammanfattning: The purpose of the study is to investigate how preschool teachers reason about physical activity in preschool outdoor environments and whether there are any factors that affect the physical activity that is made possible. The study provides answers to how the preschool teachers in the study describe the design of the importance of the outdoor environment, the importance of their participation and time for planned activities that promote physical activity.  The study is qualitative and the analysis of the empirical material is described through a content analysis based on six semi-structured interviews with active preschool teachers. The informants work at six different preschools, but within the same municipality in western Sweden. The empirical results show that all preschool teachers in the study reasoned that physical activity is an important part of preschool education, and that their role is important in promoting physical activity in children. The informants' outdoor environments differ from each other as they have different availability of trees, level differences and bushes. In the results, the preschool teachers also report that there is a desire to work more with planned physical activities in the outdoor environment, as some of them see an increase in children who do not manage to move as much.
