"Sakta men säkert är svenskarna på väg att bli en minoritet i sitt eget land" : En kritisk diskursanalys av den svenska migrationspolitiken

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to examine how the discourse on migrants is depicted in parliamentary political debates and to find out if there was any discursive differences in the political debates during 2015 and 2020. The material was composed of 12 political debates, 2 for each year originating from the parliament's website. The method that was used to answer the purpose and questions of the study was critical discourse analysis and Norman Fariclough’s dimensional text analysis. Finally, the result was analyzed in relation to Antonio Gramsci’s theory of hegemony and social constructionism. The main result showed that there have been changes in the rhetoric surrounding migration discourse and its policies, despite the fact that the studys’ time span only extends to five years. Two hegemonic discourses were found - Migration as a threat and the migrant as a threat and The threat of an inadequate migration and integration policy
