"Samhället måste försvaras" : en diskursanalys om fängelset och dess klientel i Sverige under 2000-2019

Sammanfattning: This thesis aims to provide knowledge about how prison is being portrayed in the Swedish society through sources of power. It examines the discourse surrounding imprisonment during the first two decades of the 21st century, focusing on the societal narratives and power dynamics that shape the understanding and treatment of prison and its incarcerated individuals. Drawing on discourse analysis, the study explores the multifaceted nature of prison discourse in which the analysis reveals that it is characterized by a complex interplay of power relations, moral panics and biopolitical mechanisms.
