1. An investigation of pea and cereal varieties for organic intercropping in Sweden
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)Sammanfattning : Organic farming, intercropping and the conservation of landraces are agroecological methods of transitioning to a more sustainable and resilient agricultural system, however there is a lack of data on varieties suitable for organic intercropping. Therefore, two spatially parallel field trials were conducted with 11 pea varieties intercropped with oat, and 38 varieties of cereals (wheat, oat, and barley), in sole crops. LÄS MER
2. Shifting focus from yields to food supply : an evaluation of the ‘number of people fed per hectare’ indicator at farm and national level
Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular SciencesSammanfattning : The challenge of feeding a growing global population while reducing the pressure on climate and ecosystems has gained much attention in research over the last decades. A crucial yet often overlooked aspect in research addressing this complex challenge is the efficiency of food production in meeting nutritional needs within the constraints of global cropland resources. 3. Effective soil organic carbon monitoring in perennial agriculture systems - Sampling protocol development and evaluation
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Perennial agriculture systems are gaining ground as a more sustainable alternative to conventional annual agriculture, partly for their potential to increase the soil organic carbon (SOC) content. Carbon farming is another hot topic for SOC sequestration, as it creates economic incentives for farmers. LÄS MER
4. Regenerativt lantbruk: En kvalitativ studie om möjligheter och utmaningar med att driva ett lantbruk som regenererar jord och ekosystem
Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för globala studierSammanfattning : Regenerative agriculture has recently received worldwide attention from researchers, policy makers, journalists, and farmers for its potential to regenerate degraded soil and ecosystems. It has been presented as a solution to address the challenges that the agricultural system faces today: food insecurity, negative environmental impact, economic chocks, and climate crises. LÄS MER
