Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to highlight how in personal blogs people who grew up with one or both parents that misused alcohol or drugs narrated and described their experiences of how their daily lives was when they lived at home, how they cope with difficulties that occurred and how they described their past has affected their physical development in adulthood. The method I chose to analyze this was a qualitative text analysis of blogs written by people who grew up with parents that were alcoholics or drug misusers/addicts. I worked with the theoretical concept of roles, emotional abuses, coping and development. The main result shows that these people were often placed in positions where they took care of the responsibilities at home. They took care of themselves and their younger sister or brother or helping with the housework. They even took care of their parents sometimes. It even happened that these people were forced to keep their parents drinking problems as a secret inside the family. They lived in worry and fear of what might happen to them in case something bad happens to their parents. The result also shows that these people however found their own ways of trying to cope with situations they found difficult, and it was either by approaching the problem or avoiding the problem. Living with parents with alcohol or drug problems has affected these people physically because almost all of them needed a therapist in adulthood to talk out their emotional feelings and their past experiences with.
