Sammanfattning: Background & problematization: The pandemic of the coronavirus covid-19 has led to a shock transition for both private and public actors to move to a remote mode fraught with digital encounters. This change has added various opportunities and challenges. These include challenges in the form of increased need for skills among employees, but also knowledge in the organizations of how to take advantage of the digital transition. In a modern workplace that largely consists of digital meetings, how can a government-controlled business address the opportunities and challenges that arise and how are these affected by communication?  Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate digital meetings and communication, their opportunities and challenges, and how a public enterprise works to handle these in the transition to a digital workplace.  Completion: This study is based on an abductive perspective and with a mixed method as course of action. Interviews were conducted with six respondents: four within Region Östergötland and two within Region Kalmar. In addition to this, a survey was also completed by 18 employees within Region Östergötland. The empirical material of the study has been analyzed through the use of frameworks and theories from the subject areas of communication and digital competence.  Conclusion: The study has shown that there are several opportunities and challenges experienced by employees within Region Östergötland. However, based on the empirical data the study shows that the challenges with digital meetings are mentioned to a higher degree than possibilities. Several of these challenges are based on the digital competence of Region Östergötland's employees, which results in communication difficulties. To address this, the region as an organization should introduce development opportunities for employees such as training, but also clarify guidelines for how digital meetings should be conducted. This for the sake of taking advantage of the opportunities that digital meetings contribute, but also to improve communication and teamwork between employees.
