6. An Infrared Stellar Thermometer: Exploiting IGRINS Spectra
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisationSammanfattning : Using the infrared (IR) spectral range when measuring stellar spectra is beneficial compared to using the optical range mainly when observing distant stars through the dust dense interstellar regions in the Galactic mid-plane. Methods to determine stellar parameters from IR spectra are, however, not fully developed yet because technological difficulties in creating reliable IR detectors have slowed the advance of such methods. 7. Colliding Galaxies in a (Nut)Shell
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : Galaxy interactions and mergers are natural recurring events in the current cosmological paradigm, events that often coincide with starbursts and enhanced star formation activity. To understand why that is, one can use idealised (non-cosmological) merger simulations, which provide freedom to recreate specific tidally distorted galaxies, and analysis of the time evolution and underlying physics of the star formation activity at a high spatial resolution. 8. Self-consistent dielectric formalism scheme for the paramagnetic electron gas under warm dense matter conditions
Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)Sammanfattning : The present thesis aims to further a somewhat unexplored area of Warm Dense Matter (WDM) physics through the use of tools developed within the dielectric formalism. WDM is an exotic form of matter with densities close to the solid state and temperatures of several eV. LÄS MER
9. Projections for charm balance functions in heavy-ion collisions
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : In this thesis, pp collisions were simulated using PYTHIA. D+ D- and D0 D0bar balance functions were created in order to contribute with a reference point for future balance functions measured in real data from Pb-Pb collisions. LÄS MER
10. Understanding Rt using two-particle correlations by simulating proton-proton collisions in a Monte-Carlo model
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : The observable Rt is investigated in the Monte Carlo Model Pythia in order to better understand results from experimental data obtained in the ALICE detector at CERN. The purpose is to reproduce the experiment in a simulation and use the features proposed by Pythia to dig into the unexpected outcomes. LÄS MER
