11. Intermediate-mass black hole binary as an origin of super-massive black holes
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : Galactic nuclei contain super-massive black holes (SMBHs), nuclear stellar clusters (NSCs), or both. In the NSC, intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) are likely to reside and form highly eccentric binaries. Over time, the orbit of a binary could harden via interaction with surrounding low-mass stars. LÄS MER
12. Investigation of Ion Extraction Anomalies at TwinEBIS
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : The electron beam ion source REXEBIS at CERN-ISOLDE delivers highly-charged ra- dioactive ions for post-acceleration in the HIE-ISOLDE LINAC. Research and develop- ment of components for electron beam ion sources is carried out at the TwinEBIS test stand, currently equipped with a Brillouin electron gun called MEDeGUN. LÄS MER
13. Probing Strangeness Production in Proton-Proton Collisions with Three-Particle Correlations
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : Strangeness production in small systems such as proton-proton collisions is here investigated through the use of three-particle correlations in the momentum-space coordinates η and ϕ. This method is used in order to investigate possible correlation between conservation of both strangeness and baryon number, such that the particles chosen are Λ¯pK+ and the respective charge conjugates, where Λ is a strange baryon, p¯ balances: the Balance Function and the comparative restriction of relative positions for pairs of particles within given triplets. 14. Non-Diffractive Nuclear Excitations In Angantyr
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisationSammanfattning : To better understand collectivity in high energy physics, the heavy-ion collision model Angantyr was developed to be included in the event generator Pythia. In this model, proton-proton collision phenomenology is extrapolated to heavy-ion collisions without assuming a thermal plasma for particle production. LÄS MER
15. Characterisation of the LYCCA Double-Sided Silicon Strip Detectors
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysikSammanfattning : The goal of this thesis work is to describe the methods used and perform comprehensive testing of the Double-Sided Silicon-Strip Detectors (DSSD) prior to their implementation in the Lund-York-Cologne CAlorimeter (LYCCA) detector. In the framework of this project, the DSSD characterisation was carried out to ensure specification compliance prior to their "in-kind contribution" delivery to the HISPEC experiment at the NUSTAR collaboration.
