  1. 1. Origin of blue straggler stars in the Milky Way halo

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Adam Brcek; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Blue Straggler; Galactic Halo; Spectroscopic Surveys; Binary Star Evolution; Mass Transfer; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Blue straggler stars (BSSs) are exotic stellar objects that appear to be younger than the age of the population they come from suggests. They are observed as the extension of the main sequence stars, beyond the turn-off point. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Archaeologic inspection of the Milky Way using vibrations of a fossil : Seismic, spectroscopic and kinematic characterization of a binary metal-poor Halo star

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Observationell astrofysik

    Författare :Amanda Byström; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Milky Way; Halo; galactic archaeology; asteroseismology; binary star; CEMP stars; CEMP-r s stars; stellar age; stellar mass; chemical abundance pattern; Gaia-Enceladus; Gaia-Sausage; Sequoia; spectroscopy; metal-poor;

    Sammanfattning : The Milky Way has undergone several mergers with other galaxies during its lifetime. The mergers have been identified via stellar debris in the Halo of the Milky Way. The practice of mapping these mergers is called galactic archaeology. To perform this archaeologic inspection, three stellar features must be mapped: chemistry, kinematics and age. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Efficient Discovery Of Binary Stars

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Pablo Navarro Barrachina; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Binary Stars; Spectroscopic binary stars; SB2; Machine Learning; Data Mining; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose: even in the era of exponential increase in the amount of stellar data gathered, binaries are still often overlooked in observational data due to the special handling they require. The goal of this work is to develop a method capable of automatically and efficiently identifying and extract double-lined spectroscopic binaries (SB2) from a spectroscopic survey, while being scalable and technically successful, and to identify and optimize the parameters that influence their detection.
